11 Jan 07 - 01:13 AM (#1932940) Subject: RE: Req: Tinni/Tilly/Tiddy/Mama, lend me your pigeon From: Charlie Baum I know it from several sources, but mainly from a recording by Blind Blake (Alphonso Higgs)--the Blind Blake of the Bahamaas, not the blues musician. It's on his 1951 recording (see http://www.wirz.de/music/blakbfrm.htm )--the same recording where I got the version of "Run Come See Jerusalem" that everyone else learned from. The cut there is titled "My Pigeon Gone Wild." --Charlie Baum |

I know where they got it...on a rainy evening following the Mystic Festival, down in the great cabin of the Mystic Whaler, from the lovely lead singer of the group 'Lireliet.' We sang that thing to death. Funny thing, a Friesien teaching an American a Bahamian song... |
