15 Jan 07 - 04:43 PM (#1937583) Subject: RE: So you CAN write songs about anything From: Liz the Squeak There are several radio and TV shows that invite members of the audience to provide subjects for the artistes to make up songs/sketches around ('Whose line is it anyway' being the most famous) and they've always managed to come up with something! Hey, if I can make up something about mucky paw prints (OK, so I stole the tune and basic premise), anyone can make up something! LTS |

Why did you start this thread? Did someone tell you that you that there were things songs couldn't be written about? |

16 Jan 07 - 12:03 PM (#1938385) Subject: RE: So you CAN write songs about anything From: Scrump I too am slightly puzzled as to what you are getting at, Georgiansilver. If you can write songs at all (and many of us can't), then why would you not be able to write a song about any subject, providing of course you know something about the subject to start with? Are you talking about subjects that would be taboo or frwoned upon for being un-PC, or what? Please explain what the purpose of this thread is. Right Flummoxed of England. |

I was thinking maybe there was some subject that was too delicate to write about, but I cant actually think of any. We herre them all at MRFC and I know there are no taste barriers at GFC 'cos they even let me sing there. cheers Tim |

The anything you have to write a song about is (and it has to be a song that is socially acceptable in polite company) IT IS .... "CUNT". Go for it. Double dog dare you. |

18 Jan 07 - 11:17 PM (#1941261) Subject: RE: So you CAN write songs about anything From: Big Al Whittle the subject has been extensively dealt with in traditional song. The cuckoos nest - of course. And all those nightingale songs. the nightingale is a symbol for passion(the willy) and 'the valley below oh oh oh oh oh oh' (is probably gynaelogical rather than geographical). In conteporary song there is my effort Hairy Mary (dealing with that thorny contemporary issue of pubic hair grooming:- http://www.bigalwhittle.co.uk/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles/hairymary.mp3 If its just the word you want assimilated into a song I'm not saying you c'u'n't But maybe you sh'u'n't'. |

19 Jan 07 - 02:54 AM (#1941336) Subject: RE: So you CAN write songs about anything From: Georgiansilver Sorry, had forgotten this thread even though I have posted on the other similar one....the idea was to have some challenges, implying that if I cannot write on a subject, someone will be able to. In which case...all challenges are welcome. Prefer not to have the seedier subjects if that's O.K Bert. |

19 Jan 07 - 09:37 AM (#1941525) Subject: RE: So you CAN write songs about anything From: Alec More seriously Ms Shetty is an Indian film actress currently involved in "Celebrity Big Brother" who has been subjected to what some think is racially motivated bullying for some days now. The arising furore has become a Political hot potato. Full story on most U.K. News sites. You might also look at the BB Homepage though personally I think life is to short to do things like that;) |

19 Jan 07 - 11:37 AM (#1941628) Subject: RE: So you CAN write songs about anything From: Georgiansilver Guess I have not been into the Big Brother thing but have learnt a little about it since your post. The Ballad of Shilpa Shetty. On National TV, great programmes appear, But great? Big Brother? it's nowhere near. Strange folk in a cell, try living together, Away from the world, its strife and the weather. Princess Shilpa, Indias' National treasure, Chose to be there, for her own pleasure. Her importance however seems to have faded, As her standing with residents looks a bit 'Jaded'. Jade thinks her opinions are just the job, And mouths to Shilpa with her wayward gob. But it matters not that she's fair of face, Her ramblings are nothing to do with race. The press have a field day, it's nothing new, Jades being insulting, what can one do? You can hide away Shilpa from her attack, Or perhaps you should shout a bit louder back. Now in the Big Brother house, all is exposed, Some really love it and some want it closed. So I say to you, if you don't like Big Brother, There's many good programmes, so go watch another. |
