Hello everyone,

I'm running a new community choir in Shepley, near Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.

We'll be learning traditional songs in parts, by ear or from music, for a performance at the new Shepley Spring Festival which runs from May 18th - 20th this year.

Everyone's welcome, no auditions or anything, it's friendly, informal & fun!

Tuesday Evenings 7.30-9pm at St.Paul's Church Hall, Shepley.

If you'd like more info there are contact details for the festival here: (if it works...I'm not very good at links...soz!)

http://www.shepleyspringfestival.com/

and they can put you through to me or you can just turn up tomorrow night!

The more the merrier so please spread the word if you know anyone in the area who might be interested!

Thanks,
Bryony
xx

Can we sing "The White Hare"?

That's very naughty Dave...(Actually it just so happens there was an old boy in the corner of The Farmer's Boy the other day and he hummed me a tune...then I went home and wrote some words to it about The Shepley Beast...might do that one...)

I read this thread title as "Shapely Singers" and was wondering just how many things we could find to complain were distracting people from the music . . .

Four years on and we''re still going strong, but wondered if we might be able to get a few new recruits?!

We usually have about 20 regulars who come and up to 30 if everyone turns up....but, we''re a bit short of men in particular at the moment.

So if you''re in the area and fancy a go at some 3/4 part harmony folk songs or know anyone who''d like to join us, (you need to have sung before or do an audition or anything!), rehearsals for our performance at Shepley Spring Festival (May 21st - 23rd)start next week:

fortnightly:
January 26th
February 9th
February 23rd
March 9th
March 23rd

(Easter Break – quite long as I have gigs!)

then weekly:
April 20th
April 27th
May 4th
May 11th
May 18th
Performances at Shepley Spring Festival 21st - 23rd May

We rehearse at St.Paul''s Church Hall, Shepley from 7.45 - 9.15pm and ask for £2 a session to cover the hall hire etc.

Cheers,
Bryony
