BS: Pelosi for Pres?

It just dawned on me how powerful Pelosi really is.

Can she lead the charge to impeach Bush and Cheney, then become president? (Can she be pressured by Congress or the Senate to do so?)

Pelosi and Obama.

I'd rather see that than either Hillary or Bush.

She is very impressive.

I don't think she will lead any movement to impeach Bush/Cheney ... as it stands now .... but ....

Senator Jim Webb impressed me very much tonite. Very eloquent, yet threw a hard knock to Bush's State of the Union address.

I hope they do get impeached and she has to step in. Not sure I would vote her in, but I'd love to see that happen.

The fact that Pelosi is Speaker and, thus, third in line to be president is irrelevent. If impeachment procedings were to take place against both Bush and Cheney they would be in separate trials. If Cheney were to be impeached, Bush would get to appoint a new vice president. If Bush were to be impeached, Cheney would become president and get to appoint a new vice president. The only way Pelosi gets to be president is if both Bush and Cheney die at the same time.

The House issues Articles of Impeachment, but the trial takes place in the Senate. All that's needed to issue Articles of Impeachment is a simple majority in the House, but conviction requires a 2/3 majority in the Senate. It's pretty unlikely that the Dems can come up with the additional votes needed to convict in a Senate where they only have a one vote majority.

Anyway, if Bush were to be impeached, Cheney would become president which most Dems see as even worse than Bush. The only way to avoid that taking place is to impeach Cheney first. The impeachment process takes about a year. So, by the time they were to spend a year getting rid of Cheney and another year getting rid of Bush, Obama would be putting the finishing touches on his innaugural address.

Thanks, I appreciate that information.

So much for the fantasy.

Is that possible?

He would be nuts to have such an abrasive person on his ticket. Someone nice like Maria Cantwell would be great..or John Edwards would be OK...and don't bother to say I don't like women politicians..there are some I like just fine. mg

I would LOVE to have Nancy Pelosi as president! I wish it could/would happen, but I don't think it will. I really admire the woman!

Impeachment is really hard-- can't imagine any Congress being able to pull it off twice (tho I'd love to see it). I think a more likely scenario is a tightening and limiting of presidential powers through control of the checkbook.
