26 Jan 07 - 07:19 PM (#1949211) Subject: The Omega 3, Guildford 16th Feb 2007 From: Surreysinger For those who remember Roaring Jelly, I can do no better than quote the words of the organiser of Electric Voices, regarding a forthcoming gig at the Electric Theatre in Guildford, Surrey on Friday, 16th February. "Back in the '70s and '80s a band called Roaring Jelly worked their socks off, on the folk scene and beyond, proving you could make a living specialising in utterly bizarre songs and a slick stage act (and long sentences). They have since been described, in The Guinness Who's Who of Folk Music, as "pioneers of alternative comedy before the term became fashionable." Twenty years on - reupholstered, revitalised, fortified with vitamins and fish oils - songwriters Clive Harvey and Derek Pearce have teamed up again and, in the company of new bass player Da'aboth Te'He'Ling, have relaunched themselves as The Omega 3, a trio boasting three blokes, ten musical instruments and forty seven songs (approx.). Electric Voices is delighted to be one of the first venues to welcome them back with a new bag of quirky, genre- busting songs plus some old favourites, in a fresh bid to seduce the world, once again, with ridiculousness." DOORS OPEN 7.30PM - CONCERT STARTS 8.00PM Admission £11.00 (£13.00 on the day) Box Office number - 01483 444789 |
