Epiphone Acoustic-Electrics

Does anyone have recent experience with Epiphone acoustic electrics, models PR5-E, DR-200CE or AJ-200SCE? I'm looking to add an a/e to my collection (so I won't have to use a soundhole pickup on my Martin on occasion)without spending too much cash. Musician's Friend has all three of these models for $299.99 (just for the guitar, case or other accessories extra). That's a pretty good price for an a/e with a recognizable name and they all seem to be rated pretty highly by past customers that chose to input reviews of the products.

Oh, before anyone suggests I go find one at a music store and try it, I've called around and the stores here that carry Epiphones don't stock these a/e models. Of course they'll order one for a $25 to $50 deposit against the purchase price but if you don't buy it, you'll lose the deposit as a "restocking fee". It's a racket if you ask me but that's another story for another day.

Anyone got advice????

SC

A friend's brother had a PR5-E some time back, SC.
Nice Guitar.I've heard good things about www.zZounds.com. might try there.
I assume Epiphone have their own site but haven't checked.

Hi Southern celt
Ive been playing a PR5-E for about 4 years now, pretty good guitar i have to say. i like the small compact body, and it gives a deep sound, only thing i would say is the action is sometimes a bit hard, but you soon get used to it. all in all i would say an excellent guitar for the money, although the mixer bit on top packed up 2 weeks after i got it, but apart from that, a very nice guitar. Go ahead with your purchase.
