Hey Joe.....(forgive the reference to Hendrix)...is it O.K to have a thread to advertise instruments for sale on Ebay or wherever?.....won't advertise unless you say it is O.K.

Thanks Kat.... In that case..I have an Antique Ocarina made in metal by Mathieu of Paris in c 1880 on Ebay (UK) at present with a few days to go...item number 280083368694   If anyone is truly interested. There seems to be a lot of interest in it as it has 15 watchers.
I am now learning on an Austrian clay model from c 1900 which has a sweet sound.

You're welcome, GS. Here's a LINK to your ocarina. You've had a lot of lookers! It's very interesting looking. Good luck!

I have one of those Mathieu metal ocarinas (and another one on its way from an eBay auction). There is a problem with it, which I suspect may be systematic: the topmost notes simply aren't there. You can do quite a lot with just nine or ten, though. (With a spare to play with, I may try a bit of revoicing with a file).

Jack, I have already come across your 'ocarina' page but of course did not realise you were a 'catter'

I might have mentioned that on another thread..I believe I did.

Incidentally...I thought the same as you about there being a problem...but it takes work to work it out...they do function correctly if the use of all the holes is appraised correctly......Hope that makes sense to you.

"You've had a lot of lookers!"

Damn, now I'm jealous!

If I had an ocarina, would that make the girls interested in me too?

If you wish to imply ownership of a big tool, get a big tool box.

Hope you have more luck than I had selling. My concertina got plenty of people watching but no decent bids so its still here.
