Strange days indeed
Two circus clowns have been shot dead during a performance in the eastern Colombian city of Cucuta, police say.

Nothing to do with terrorism.

When I was a child, I hated clowns. Still do. Maybe I am not alone.

Any relation to Cirque Du Soleil?

Does that mean if I'm not a clown, I have nothing to fear?

Quote

"One clown was shot in the head as he performed on stage, about an hour into the Circo del Sol's evening show.

The second, named as 18-year-old Franklin Leal, from Cucuta, was then shot as he stood by the ticket booth, according to the newspaper La Opinion.

The travelling circus had set up in a suburb of Cucuta, capital of Norte de Santander province near the Venezuelan border, about 10 days earlier, the paper says. "

See how this works? It's a case study Little Hawk's moral relativism. To one person the clown killers are terrorists; To another they are avengers of children. And D'Van, first they come for the clowns. Then they come for the banjo players. [etc.] This is REAL.

"BOGOTA, Colombia (Reuters) -- Two clowns were shot and killed by an unidentified gunman during their performance at a traveling circus in the eastern Colombian town of Cucuta, police said Wednesday.

The gunman burst into the Circo del Sol de Cali on Monday night and shot the clowns in front of an audience of 20 to 50 people, local police chief Jose Humberto Henao told Reuters.

One of the clowns was killed instantly, and the second died the next day in hospital."

http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/americas/02/21/colombia.clowns.reut/index.html

OK, the next line is:
"The killings had nothing to do with the show the victims were performing at the time of the incident," Henao said in a telephone interview. "We are investigating the motive.""

But do you have any stories of critics acting out?

Gunmen killing clowns? The UK government must be really worried about this.

It's still illegal, I would point out, even though these gunmen did it. And that, as they say, is a Good Thing. If the government were to provide license to kill Clowns, the threads of the Mudcat, just for starters, would be running with gore. Not to mention the streets of Washington, which would be running with Gore, Cheny, Bush, Rover, H and B CLinton and the precious bodily fluids of several thousand other clowns who like to prance around that part of the world.

Is there a term for clown phobia?

I know that some people fear clowns but I can't imagine hating them so much you would want to kill them except, maybe, Ronald McDonald.

I actually saw something very much like this happen once - except that when the gunman fired, a little flag that said Bang! popped out of the gun barrel.

Colombia has little tolerance for the gay culture OR overt gay like
behaviour pushed on them by self righteous Canada and its overly
gay friendly political pundits. It is sad this happened but such
behaviour isn't the norm in this corner of the world

Hmm. I was not aware that Canada was pushing gay culture down the throats of Colombians. Shocking! Here I thought our efforts were mainly in regards to getting them to buy 1/6 scale action figures of Royal Canadian Mounted Police...

LH: Did you look closely at what they are doing to the horses? Where DO you think the name Mounties came from? Besides, Ernesto thinks we live on a planet that is cubic. Hence the 'corner' thing he says. This is the twit who slags Canada every chance he gets. Interesting that his posts slip by the folks who look out for trolling by Guests. They are quick to delete some posts but not others. Right now, the whole fuckin' "Thank the clones" thread has made an exit. Gone.

You probably never will, because I took issue with the notion that all clones deserve to be applauded for their efforts. Someone said they all do. I think that most do. The thread was closed, likely by a clone with whom I took issue. But then, who the fuck knows.

Okay, I'm confused - are we talking about clones or clowns? And is Peace the "tough critic" (or is he really a marshmellow inside)? And did a thread get shut down or a South American terrorist get shot down? And our self-righteous gay friend Ernesto who was having Mounties (possibly plastic) shoved down his throat - where did he come from and where did he go?

27 Feb 07 - 04:01 PM (#1981088)
Subject: RE: BS: Tough critic-clowns shot in Colombia
From: Peace

"Okay, I'm confused"

That's a good sign. The issue is this: On tuesday last a letter arrived that requested my Aunt Mehitabel's recipe for Australian goulash. I TRIED to explain to numb-nuts Ernesto that in Canada we mix the stew by having the RCMP take it with them as they pursue dangerous criminals on horseback. That is, the Mounties are on horseback and the criminals drive SUVs. Anyway, he has problems because he somehow thinks that a Mountie fired his bow unwisely (they use bows and arrows in Canada because we have laws that say people can't have guns except for criminal people who MUST carry guns or else we deport them to Iraq where they make spaghetti westerns on shoestring budgies) and hit his personal Rosie blow-up doll, and now that Rosie won't inflate, neither can he. He didn't mean to be all mad at Canada and the Mounties; it was just the angst resulting from plain ol' fuckin' frustration.

Okay, NOW I understand - it's all so simple when you put it that way! (Except for the part about the sign ... I can't see that "Okay, I'm confused" is a very helpful or useful sign - maybe if it said, "Beware of confusion", or "Confusion zone", or "Hard Head Zone" ... )
