Also known as the year Landlocked reminded us all why indoor camping is a dangerous and especially noisy game! There is potential for me making it. muppitz x |

08 Apr 07 - 08:35 AM (#2019725) Subject: RE: Barnsley Folk Singaround 2007 From: Herga Kitty I've heard from Les and Carys that the singing has been great, but Murf's campervan was broken into again - as was their own (and also, I think, Carole and Andrew's), so they've driven home overnight with the side window missing .... Kitty |
08 Apr 07 - 10:16 AM (#2019767) Subject: RE: Barnsley Folk Singaround 2007 From: Frogette not Carole and Andrews, they were indoor camping but one of the northern lads. Sorry but as he came late we weren't introduced. We only lost the Cd player also my little carry case of folk CD's which I am now going to have to try to replace. Anyone got a spare copy of My Lady of Autumn. We are otherwise OK and hopeful that Les can write a song about it. |
08 Apr 07 - 02:09 PM (#2019985) Subject: RE: Barnsley Folk Singaround 2007 From: r.padgett Yes very sorry about the thefts and break ins I am having very serious thinkings about continued use cannot have someone looking after the YM security so future usage there in doubt May move to the Keel Inn much more room and campervan and campig space other than that would have little or no campervan space Othe lad is Brian Colley from Hartlepool ~ he has had his van broken into 4 times recently!! not just at Barnsley Ray |
08 Apr 07 - 02:11 PM (#2019987) Subject: RE: Barnsley Folk Singaround 2007 From: MoorleyMan Yes it was a great weekend singing-wise and excellent company. What a pity about the thefts, couldn't have happened to nicer folks. But don't blame yself Ray, you and Johnny did a fantastic job organising the weekend. |
08 Apr 07 - 02:21 PM (#2020001) Subject: RE: Barnsley Folk Singaround 2007 From: Crane Driver It was indeed an excellent weekend of songs - what a fine collection of singers and musicians gathered there over the weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed hearing from everyone who performed. It was indeed a shame that some selfish yobs spoilt things at the end but that certainly wasn't the fault of the organisers. Hope you do find another, safer venue Ray - we'd love to come back on a regular basis. Andrew & Carole (safely back in Wales) |
09 Apr 07 - 06:52 AM (#2020354) Subject: RE: Barnsley Folk Singaround 2007 From: Frogette We'll be back too, like a shot if you get the Keel Inn or similar. We really enjoyed it. Thanks Ray for your hospitality. |

09 Apr 07 - 03:35 PM (#2020650) Subject: RE: Barnsley Folk Singaround 2007 From: r.padgett Up to date just had a phone call from YM premises manager who is very concerned at spate of incidents and knowing him he is likely to take very firm action ~ he is going to police station tomorrow and he reckons he know who it is thats responsible!! No real consolation for inconvenience but remedial action is in place and hopefully we can iron out one or two other problems which have surfaced too The Bill Whaley and Dave Fletcher session on Sunday and survivors was well attended and very well appreciated too Thanks everyone for your support and I do hope too many are not detered from coming back to Barnsley Enjoyed everyones company and songs (between the pints!!)
