From: Scrump There are news reports that certain petrol suppliers have sold 'faulty' petrol which has badly affected the vehicles of several car users. As I need to fill my car up soon, I'd obviously like to avoid buying any of this crap stuff. The BBC website mentions Tesco, Morrison and "Others" as being the suppliers of faulty petrol. Does anyone know who the "Others" are? Maybe there's a better website somewhere with more details - anyone know? TIA for any help. p.s. I remember back in the 1980s something similar happened with Shell petrol, when they added a chemical to their petrol that was supposed to keep your engine 'clean'. For certain car models, including the one I had at the time (a Vauxhall Cavalier) it ate away the valve seatings and knackered the engine. Thousands of motorists were affected, including me. It cost me hundreds to get fixed, and I got no compensation because Shell would only pay out if you could prove you had used their petrol exclusively since they added the chemical. Of course I couldn't (and indeed hadn't) so I got nowt. The only revenge I could take is to vote with my wheels, and to this day I still avoid Shell, except in emergency when there's no easy alternative. Not that I'm one to bear a grudge or anything :-) |
