04 Mar 07 - 06:28 PM (#1986260) Subject: BS: park model trailor in florida From: GUEST,Mary V. I have a small park model trailor on the gulf in Florida. Has anyone ever painted one on the outside? Curious, as I am getting ready to paint and I'm thinking I have to prime it first . Any advise would be greatly appreciated . Thank you |

Its very nice and I' was just hoping someone may have one and could tell me what worked best for them. I hope to have it for many years as everything is so expensive in Florida that its at least affordable , and theres a pool and a lake for fishing and its in a very nice and safe area . Thanks for the website . |

04 Mar 07 - 08:12 PM (#1986331) Subject: RE: BS: park model trailors in florida From: Bee I have painted on trailers (artwork). You'd first have to determine what the exterior is made of (steel, aluminum, fibreglass?), whether it's been painted before and with what. I would certainly seek out trailer restoration websites/businesses for advice. My limited experience says: clean it very well first. If it is very shiny (unlikely, if it's older), give it a light sanding or steel wool-ing, and dust any residue off. I've had good luck with latex exterior paints on fibreglass, oil based enamels on metal, and there are high adhesion latex paints available. Paint will likely fail if there is any flexing of the surface, likely not a consideration if it stays parked. Have fun! |

07 Mar 07 - 02:17 PM (#1989711) Subject: RE: BS: park model trailors in florida From: Bee I did paint a couch once, a veranda couch, old, stained, and covered with heavy cotton fabric. It looked quite good for a couple years, after which the paint cracked some. ;-) |
