To throw in my 2 cents worth, I've known them for around 17 years, and they are fine performers, very knowledgeable about the music they perform, and wonderful people! You might know them from previous trips to the UK, or you might know Dick from his other duo, "Holdstock and Macleod." -Chanteyranger "This September and October Carol and I will be in the UK and Europe again and we hope to find a few gigs. We live in California and do a wide variety of material but specialize in west coast North American music of the sea. Carol is from San Francisco, and I'm from Kent. We have come to England for folk events and to visit family every other year or so. We do not need to be paid a great deal, we work hard and on time, but really love to get accomodations. His voice drew me in and got me interested in sea music. Since then I've had the pleasure of getting to know Dick (and Carol) - you couldn't meet a nicer bloke and a real gentleman to boot. |

We have many irons in the fire at this time but because we made our decision to do the trip so late we have yet to land a gig. We plan to start our trip in Austria around September 10, and end up for a week or two in Britain visiting friends and family beginning September 17. According to Richard, "The festival is held during May because it is a better slot for the event. Whitby had been invaded by Goths during the Oct weekend and nothing worked for us." Unfortunately, that's a weekend that we're never available due to our village custom taking place then, so the Captain Cook Festival is off for us, I'm sorry to say.
