Oops - link is to what About.com thinks are the top 10 protest songs - not the general forum. But that is an interesting question too - do we agree with their tally?

Both Ian Campbell's "The Sun is Burning" and Nazim Hikmet's (sp?) "Hiroshima" are, in my view, (FWIW) both much more powerful songs than several listed there. To me, the list looks like one of songs that achieved commercial success at some time or other and there are probably other more deserving entries.

Both songs are in the DT.

The sun is burning is here

and Hiroshima is here

BTW, the DT entry for "Hiroshima" does not include the author credits, which I believe needs putting right.

However, like all such lists, it is in the end a matter of personal choice.

I joined the about folk forum, but it needs more people to get it really in the swing of things.
