Anyone have some good chords for the verses? Here's the first verse, but I think there is also a second verse. 1908 was the last year the Cubs won the World Serious -- maybe this year .........
Thanks, Chris

TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME

Katie Casey was baseball mad,
Had the fever and had it bad,
Just to root for her hometown crew,
ev'ry sou-- Katie blew.

On a Saturday, her young beau
called to see if she'd like to go
To see a show but Miss Kate said, "No,
But I'll tell you what you can do"

Take me out to the ballgame,
Take me out to the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack.
I don't care if I never get back,

Let me root, root for the home team,
If they don't win it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes you're out.
At the old ball game.

Lyrics by Jack Norworth
Music by Albert von Tilzer
1908

Katie Casey saw all the games,
Knew the players by their first names;
Told the umpire he was wrong,
all along -- good and stong --
When the score was just two to two,
Katie Casey knew what to do,
Just to cheer up the boys she knew,
She made the gang sing this song:

I was surprised it wasn't already here, Sorcha. It might not be folk, but it sure is "Americana" and I see no harm in it being posted. Doesn't mean it's going in the DT.

OK, ok.....and it's been quite a long time since anything went into the DT. NOT ragging, just commenting.

Baseball, Jim Lad, baseball!**big grin** Big stick, smallish ball, three bases, catcher, umpire and pitcher, as well as short stop, the outfielders, pinch hitters, etc.

Jim, IMO, there is no way the game can be explained. Play a few and you'll know all you need to know. Watch a few and you'll have a general idea. It is one of the greatest games on the planet. But then I expect folks in Britain and Ireland feel that way about soccer and cricket.

Football: You hit a round ball into a square net with your feet.
Come to think of it: I don't get that either. I think it lost something when they stopped using pig's bladders.
Thanks Peace: I'll be sure to read that.
Now that "Root, root, root" thing should put a smile on the Ausies' faces. Good on ya, Chris & Chico!

My daughter learned that song in school in Australia, but I think they substituted "cheer" for "root".

Katlaughing: Your innocence becomes you. Do not sing that in Australia.
