Have you heard of this song? Do you know where on the Net I can find the words and tune? Charles |
28 Mar 99 - 10:47 AM (#66469) Subject: RE: Lyrics/MIDI: Ten Little Girls for Frank From: catspaw49 Frank is what? A pedophile? Not only that, but I'd be damn careful singing this song if you find it!!! This "Gentleman" may not be one at all!! At the first sign of trouble, be prepared to commit this guy to the Neil Young Center for the Terminally Screwed. They have a special wing for pedophiles where Neil himself resides. No one believes that Neil Young is a pedophile, but he LOOKS like one and that adds credence to the unit. Patients in this unit are not given tiples but learn to play nose flute instead. Best of luck in your search, but BE CAREFUL!!!! catspaw |

Charles, The above post is just a joke, but sometimes I can't restrain myself from things. I have searched in our database and cannot find it. That DOESN'T mean it's not there...other s around here are much better than I at searches. AND...hang on because someone in this group may well know this song or part of it...we're very tenacious! catspaw |

29 Mar 99 - 11:46 AM (#66686) Subject: RE: Lyrics/MIDI: Ten Little Girls for Frank From: ccolyer@cyberspc.mb.ca Thanks! I know about Fred but not Frank. I'll be at the personal care home again tomorrow to sing some Easter songs/hymns and I'll see if I can get some of the lyrics from the gentleman, who, I believe, visits his wife there every day. Now that I look at my note again, perhaps the song is "Ten Little Girls" and Frank is the name of the gentleman who asked about it! Thanks for your persistence. Charles |
29 Mar 99 - 12:34 PM (#66695) Subject: RE: Lyrics/MIDI: Ten Little Girls for Frank From: Wolfgang Charles, I found a song with that title (here). Perhaps it's the one, I don't know. Wolfgang |
30 Mar 99 - 01:53 PM (#66908) Subject: RE: Lyrics/MIDI: Ten Little Girls for Frank From: ccolyer@cyberspc.mb.ca Thanks, Wolfgang, but that's not the song I'm looking for. The one I want comes from the forties, I believe, but I may know more in awhile after I do the Easter show at the personal care home this afternoon. Everything hinges on Frank being there to give me some more lyrics. Charles |
31 Mar 99 - 01:07 AM (#67007) Subject: RE: Lyrics/MIDI: Ten Little Girls for Frank From: ccolyer@cyberspc.mb.ca Okay, here are all the words which Frank remembers to "Ten Pretty Girls": There were ten pretty girls at the village school. Picture ten pretty girls at the village school. They were short, sweet and tall and the boy loved them all But you can't marry ten pretty girls. There were ten pretty girls and I'll tell you this: That the boys' favourite trick was to steal a kiss Kissing girls may be fun, but your heart sets on one And you can't marry ten pretty girls. Five were blondes and four brunettes And one was a saucy little red-head. The girls grew up and the boy left school And at 21 he wedded the saucy little red-head. ========================================================== Frank tells me there are more verses but he doesn't remember the exact words. He's also a bit shaky on the melody. It almost sounds to me like an English music-hall song from early in the century but Frank thinks it may have come from the 1940s. So there you are. Can you help me with this? Charles |

It was most famously recorded by Hildegarde: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r10gMCR4NfM The lyrics Frank remembers are close, but lack the final verse.
