28 Mar 07 - 11:30 AM (#2009544) Subject: RE: Search for Folk Clubs in Orpington? From: The Sandman man about town ,since I have played most of the clubs in the area as a paid guest and DARTFORD many times as a floorsinger,I have to say you are completely out of order,Dartford caters for certain kind of folk music veering towards the contemporary, and heavily orientated towards the guitar, nothing wrong with that and they are successful at what they do,but they do not cater for all tastes. other clubs like the two orpington clubs are very good in a different way, youare rather negative ,what makes agood club is a subjective matter.I agree with Richard Bridge. |

29 Mar 07 - 05:06 AM (#2010397) Subject: RE: Search for Folk Clubs in Orpington? From: Cathie Thanks for all this information - and the PMs that I have been sent. I am currently spending my weekends visiting poorly relatives 'back home' ie Green Street Green (the Orpington one, not the Dartford one) and will try to take opportunity to visit a local venue for a change of scene. I had spotted Breezy on the list already. There are obviously so many changed around since I was a young girl. Now they are pulling down the multi-storey car park!! I learnt so much there. |

23 Mar 08 - 06:05 PM (#2296117) Subject: RE: Search for Folk Clubs in Orpington? From: Suffet Greetings from New York City! I invite all Mudcatters in London and its environs to come to Orpington Friday Folk on October 17th of this year when Anne Price and I are the featured guest performers. The two of us just spent the afternoon rehearsing, and we will doing so again nearly every weekend between now and October because we want to make sure everything clicks perfectly. We will have lots of old songs, new songs, and in-between songs, most with choruses or refrains. You are welcome to sing along on all our songs, unless we tell you otherwise. And we will never tell you otherwise. At Girl Friday's request, Anne and I promise to sing Where's My Bagel and Lox? If you are not familiar with the song, ask her to let you copy it from the demo CD we sent her. I understand that it's becoming an underground classic. --- Steve Suffet |
