For those who fancy colouring books
And lots of people do
Heres a new one for you
A most unusual colouring book
The kind youll never see
Crayons ready?
Very well
Begin to colour me

These are the eyes that watched him as he walked away
Colour them grey
This is the heart that thought he would always be true
Colour it blue

These are the arms that held him and touched him
Lost him somehow
Colour them empty now
These are the beads I wore
Until she came between
Colour them green

This is the room that I sleep in and walk in
And weep in and hide in
That nobody, nobodys seen
Oh, colour it lonely, please

This is the man whose love I depended upon
Colour him gone

Fred Ebb was an American--he wrote "My Coloring Book"--perhaps you would have done better searching for his spelling--

Music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, 1962
Performed by Perry Como
Recorded March 26, 1963
Album issue: RCA-LP12 "The Songs I Love" LSP-2708 STEREO 1963

If you admire coloring books,
And lots of people do,
I've a new one for you!
A most unusual coloring book,
The kind you never see,
Crayons ready, crayons set,
Begin to color me!

These are the eyes that watched her,
As she walked away,
Color them gray!

This is the heart,
That thought she would always be true,
Color it blue!

These are the arms that held her,
And touched her,
Then lost her somehow,
Color them empty now!

This is the tie, I wore,
Until you came between,
Color it green!

This is the room I sleep in, and walk in, and weep in,
And hide in, that nobody sees,
Color it lonely please!

This is the girl that once I depended upon,
Color her gone!

Music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, 1962

I posted the lyrics to MY COLORING BOOK in the thread what's the worst song you ever heard?3—and I wasn't kidding. Then, for some reason, Joe Offer saw fit to post them again here. De gustibus non est explicatem.

I didn't know Kander and Ebb wrote that!! My, my. One or both of them also wrote "The Little Blue Man," a novelty pop hit way back when. This was before they wrote "Cabaret," "Chicago" and a another show or two.

Hey, Jim, ya gotta give the people what they want. You expect I'm going to find it in a thread with a different title?
-Joe, who admits it's a sappy song-

Petula Clarke? I always thought it was Cilla Black. Or was that just on telly?

Cilla had a hit with it in 1969, and Agnetha Faltskog also released it in 2004.

Petula Clark sang "Color My World", which is no small undertaking with just a crayon.
