Folk clubs in and around Hull

Subject: Looking for folk clubs in and around Hull
From: Seaking

Some friendly advice needed please. I'm going to be staying in Hull between 25th and 29th March (in Beverley I think) and want to try to get to some local folk clubs while I've got the opportunity (and my employer is paying for the petrol). From this forum it would appear there's a lot going on in the area so any pointers and details would be appreciated please. I'm driving so any reasonable distances would be ok.

I know I could have googled for this information but you can't beat a good recommendation !

Thanks in advance..

Chris

Thanks everyone, I'll try to get to some of these. Any other suggestions still welcome, especially singers/guest clubs.

If you want to stray rather further across towards York you would be more than welcome any Wednesday in March (or any month of the year) at the Thompsons Arms, Flaxton 8.30 till whenever - just off the A64 about 10 miles north of York about 40 mins from Beverley

25 Barton upon Humber The Carnival Hummingbird (Amy Wadge, Cathy Burton, Edwina Hayes)#

26 Beverley, Foresters, Brian Peters

26 Epworth, Old School Inn, Singers #

26 Doncaster, Regent Hotel, Club Night

27 Bridlington, Broadacres, singers

28 Cottingham Live, "The Back Room" Hallgate. Tanglefoot

All the best

Beverley is certainly the place to stay for folk music rather than Hull.

Shame about missing Tanglefoot, but well done Cottingham for selling out. Still, you've got the brilliant Brian Peters, melodeon, concertina and guitar supremo, on at 'NOT The White Horse Folk Club' at the Foresters Arms in Beverley on the Monday (8.30) - we'd love to see you there Chris.

Perhaps my memory is playing me false but am I right in thinking that there used to be a club at Etton & if so is it still running?

If you stay till 30th you could get to the Friday Tiger session.
25th Sunday session mainly singaround in the Sun
26th Monday Folk club with guest Brian Peters in the Foresters
27th Tuesday Session in Monk's Walk first half music workshop then goes round the room, musicians and singers.
28th Wednesday Session in the Tiger mostly musicians.
Can't think of anything for Thursday
30th Friday Session in the Tiger, lots of tunes, but songs too and all welcome.
All in Beverley
