In the late 60's or early 70's there was a song called (I think) Hattie's Shack. It was about an herbal healer in a bayou swamp that saved a town from an epidemic. The chorus had the lyric '...Hattie's Shack in the back of the black bayou.' Other lyrics I remember were about the start of the epidemic- 'Doc Ellis was the first to go' and the cure 'bowl of bubbling goo'.
It's not quite folk song material but I'd like to find the full lyrics. I encountered it a jukebox (45 rpm) in Panama City Florida in the summer of 1971 or 1972.
