GUEST,DAVE G. Lyr/Chords Req: Glendale Train (24) Lyr Add: JESSE JAMES 13 Feb 00

I'm pretty sure you are looking for the song JESSE JAMES.
The version I do is the American version although some friends of mine do other versions which very slightly with the words.
         G D7 G C G
Jesse James was a lad who killed many a man.
D7
He robbed the Glendale train.
G D7 G C G
He stole from the rich and gave to the poor.
A7 D7 G
He'd a hand and a heart and a brain.

G7 C Cm G
CHORUS: Poor Jesse had a wife to mourn for his life.
A7
Three children, they were brave;
D G D7 G C G
But that dirty little coward that shot Mr. Howard
A7 D7 G
Has laid poor Jesse in his grave.
It was Robert ford, that dirty little coward.
I wonder how he does feel,
For he ate of Jesse's bread and he slept in Jesse's bed,
Then laid poor Jesse in his grave.

Jesse was a man, a friend to the poor.
He'd never see a man suffer pain,
And with his brother Frank, he robbed the Chicago bank,
And stopped the Glendale train.

It was on a Saturday night, Jesse was at home,
Talking with his family brave.
Robert Ford came along like a thief in the night,
And laid poor Jesse in his grave.

This song was sung by Billy Gashade
As soon as the news did arrive.
He said there was no man with the law in his hand,
Could take poor Jesse James when alive.

The chorus starts with poor Jesse had a wife. It says a moderate tempo. We do it a little faster and people really like it. There are some of the D7 we delete that are transition chords- although that is not how it is written.
