Not only underwriters, but I'd think also and perhaps especially that the performers and the venues who host them would be quite disappointed that Mary's promotion of them is to be lost. WETA, btw--not sure it was specified above--apparently went to its mostly-news format in Feb. 2005. Personally, I've been quite angered by WETA's echoing WAMU's long-standing broadcast of Morning Edition, and then WAMU's reciprocation more recently in duplicating WETA's long-standing early evening hosting of All Things Considered--which prior to that had been done in a wonderfully complementary way: WAMU began as WETA ended the broadcast, and one thus could listen from anytime in the first 90min and catch it all via WAMU's later airing. The money-hounding mailings seem to have followed Ms. Rockefeller's presence, and are a splendid waste of resources and irritation to any reasonable person (they have done phone calls, too!). (Btw, is anyone else amazed at the NUMBER of trustees--that's one long list!) --dl* ====
