My son helps me when I do lighting for a tribute band, but at one venue he was not allowed on stage during rigging and setting because of insurance problems. Evidently its OK for a crumbly to have a gas barrel fall on his head, but not a youngster.

A performer is in a different legal position to someone entering a pub as a punter,
