"The crocodile" in folklore goes way back to the "half horse, half alligator" brag talk of the 18th century---and earlier. I did see a written discourse on the lineage;---I might even have it. These days I have no room to keep stuff I don't figure I'll read again---so it may be a part of an earlier pot-latch moment of mine. Such is life. Art
