Do you need a multi-page definition to identify a Western? You gotta have Horseshit & Gunsmoke, John Wayne is a plus. It can't be set later than 1900. The Railroad and the telegraph are optional. The antagonists are either white guys, Meskins or Injuns. The pistols must be able to shoot 34 times without reloading or actually hitting anything—unless it's an Annie Oakley picture. John on the Sunset Coast: Jesse James rode with Quantril when they sacked Lawrence, Kansas. That's west of MO. But only by about 35 miles.
