But that didn't stop Saltburn from going ahead with it all the same. They weren't to know that it wouldn't impact on Whitby. And guess what, I'm going to disagree with you on your point about them being as different as chalk and cheese! :-) That's just not true. They are both by the sea, they are both held in different venues around the town, they both have participatary events (singarounds, sessions, workshops etc) and they both have a similar guest list each year. The ONLY difference being that one is a weekend festival and the other a week long festival, as you pointed out. Neither of them can compare to Pickering. Pickering is a unique festival for the area. In fact there was a joke going around Whitby when Malcolm ran it that all you had to do with the programme each year was to change the cover. The contents were identical year on year.
