If it wasn't for the America all your precious English Culture would have been assimilated by the Third Reich long ago. And wasn't the Baby Boomer folk revival fuelled by an initial passion for skiffling & Dylan & suchlike Americana leading to an appreciation of things closer to home? The tradition of English folk song extends to wherever they sing English folk songs - which must include America & Australia where such things thrive unabated as they always have done.
