Well when you find that the clever ones come to your rescue ~ "fait acompli" or whatever it should be Fistly, Middleton isn't/ was never in Yorkshire, but the mining was carried on in Nth Yorkshire in moor land area. Middleton being the nearest village, the Tees being the boundary Scowie, I have sung the Manchester Cornstalk a number of times this year already ~ from Arthur Howard's singing, who lived on the hills above Penistone as a sheep farmer ~ I wonder if you or you mate Nick Caffery have collected this from anyone your side of the Pennines? I bet the Commercial Traveller was from Yorkshire though! Ray ~ Merry Christmas to all!
