Julie Carter, who played with Ian Blake (and me) in the Momeraths, and also with Shirley Collins, was pretty damn good at constructing interesting accompaniments on the English - a much better musician than a number of the English system players mentioned here, a couple of whom frankly make me chortle with derision. But whatever turns you on, folk fans ... hey ho. She gave it all up years ago, so I believe. |
