So long as I can 'manage' friends with difficult personality traits, I'll tolerate far more from people I have a personal liking for, than people I don't. Including traits I don't particularly like. If I can't 'manage' them (ie: if they want more time with me than I want with them, and encroach into my space) then those traits become harder to tolerate. One of the things I probably have the least time for in a friend, is basic rudeness and tantrums - if directed *my* way anyhow. I have dropped otherwise positive friendships for what I felt was inappropriate rudeness. I really don't appreciate being treated like crap because "they" have had a bad morning or are having their period, or whatever.
