In Chicago about '65, there were a bunch of clubs on Wells that were trying to cash in on the folk boom. One was the Fickle Pickle. One afternoon I went there for lunch. It was so packed you couldn't hear the 2 folkies singing. I walked up to the stage and the sign said Smothers Brothers. They were doing Pretoria, but nobody was listening! That summer someone was shot in that area, and the crowd moved on. Chris
