Oh good, Chanteylass! I was feeling sad, thinking not one person wanted to see something beautiful. When I first saw this painting, it was reproduced in an elegant art book. In the book you can see the little Jesus is tired, but he holds the candle peacefully, with no trace of crankiness or irritation. To tell you the truth, I believe few paintings of that era (1600's) catch an expression such as that. I admire La Tour for being able to capture the subtle changes around the eyes which tell us that a child is tired. I'm glad you like the painting.
