my holidays are festivals. My big one is the week-long National Folk Festival in Canberra at Easter. Autumn in Canberra is sunny days in summer gear & evenings in thermals, usually followed by minimums of 0-10C, but I'm usually snug in my tent under my 80% down quilt. My other major festival is different - a 4-day festival in mid January at the Illawarra Folk Festival, about 100km south of Sydney. I hate summer heat & humidity but I still go cos the singing & company is great & the acts are good. Last year & this year the temperatures were in the mid 40s - & last year we extreme gusts of wind that blew down tents & caused major problems in the Food Court where stall holders were trying to turn off their gas & hold down their tents & chase after their stock. It was amazing (saddening?) the number of festival goers who just watched a small number of us helping. I also go to a couple of 2 or 3 day festivals. sandra (folkie but not traveller cos I have too many sore bits to sit on long flights & queue at historic sites)
