"Sea change" is a fine word with a very different sense to it than mere change. My pet peever of the day is the use of "great" for anything from birdseed to coffee refills to mediocre performances of "Wagon Wheel" using a fifteen-dollar guitar that has not been tuned and a celluloid flatpick used only as a rhythm instrument. Greatness used to have a meaning in human affairs, but the soul of greatness is gone from our language.
