Ebbie BS: Politcal Lies and Misinformation (92* d) RE: BS: Politcal Lies and Misinformation 09 Apr 15

Proposed:

The Arts of a community are beneficial to all.

#1- I agree! Whether it is music, painting, dance or poetry a community can only benefit from them This is why the arts should be taught in our schools, and as early and fully in the education process as possible.

#2- I disagree with you. If parents want their child to be proficient in any branch of the arts they should be willing to pay for it themselves, and it should be taught outside the normal classroom hours.

#3- What's the matter with you?! If you had your way we would have a community where the only people capable of playing an instrument would be the rich who can afford to buy what they want. Since most people are not rich we would end up with a community of materialistic, money-grubbing plebians who have not a thought in their heads for those less well off.

#4- That's a wide brush you are painting with. I suggest you keep your mouth shut until you have something sensible to say. He didn't say a word about not wanting the arts in the community. He is right. Schools are meant to prepare a child to enter society as a productive member of the community. The arts will always be present.

#1- It has been clearly shown that a child exposed to a rich intellectual life - and that includes the arts - will learn to think more clearly and productively in his everyday tasks in his community. It is never wasted.

#3- Source please.

#2- Bear in mind that the fancy-pantsy regiment will always make unsupported statements like that. And #1, I happen to know, is one of those.

And we're off!
