Oh gosh, I remember Tom Paxton in Edinburgh in the sixties (can't recall the year or the venue!) We always sang 'sober' syncopated, and even gave a small clap just before the word. Don't know if Tom did that or we'd picked it up from elsewhere. Happy memories as a daft young student at Edinburgh Uni!
