Doris could have been Daphne or Demeter. An advantage of classical Greek names is that one wouldn't be stuck for X, as there's a plethora of those from which to choose.

My pupils often had difficulty pronouncing those ancient names. Euripides was frequently read as Yoory Pides. (to rhyme with tides)
And one delightful child told me she'd been reading about the Amazing Basin, through which ran the Amazing River.
