Jerry... I can't speak for other clubs, but the founders of the Crewe club are still active, and the story has been told, to my knowledge, since the early to mid 1950s. There was also a story about him going to Sidmouth festival in 1965 after his Cambridge gig, but I've never been able to confirm that.
