The important thing about slip jigs is the emphasis, according to Alistair Anderson the emphasis is on the first of each group of three, so in 9/8, which is slip jig time which is the tempo of kid o the mountain, i would hit 1, 4, 7 beats with my thumb or a downwards plectrum pick, because i find it easier to stress those notes with a downward motion, hope that helps you
