The only way to turn things around now would be re-nationalisation of transport and a diversion of money used for road building to kick start a subsidised reliable, safe, integrated public transport system. But as politicians now deal only in 'short-termism', it's unlikely to happen. As far as I can see, the road hell will simply continue to get worse. Eventually, journeys to work will take so long that those of us who can't afford to live close to our workplace will have no choice but to to sleep in our offices Monday-Friday in order to keep our jobs!
