I was a Boy Scout air raid warden here in Connecticut. Still have my white helmut and certificate as a Junion Air raid warden. Yes we had blackouts and air raid drills here in WW-2 So even kids as young as 13 on were doing their bit. Also have a Boy Scout medal for collecting 2000 pounds of Waste paper for the war effort. It was used to make contaners for shells. Total mobalization here then
