Yes there is an unsavoury element on the local music scene in SE London,, who seem to think that a folk session involves a small clique of long faced squeeze box & fiddle players playing the same monotonous diddly dee throughout the night, oblivious to any other people, who may have been under the impression that a folk session was a friendly get together of people from varied backgrounds regardless of musical ability. Percussion instruments such as tambourine, castanets, bongoes, shaky eggs etc are a great way to involve non-musicians in a session. If sessions become exclusive gatherings of self appointed "tunesmiths" then they will - and desrvedly so - DIE!!!
