Subject: disconnected bones? From: Dick Wisan Date: 23 Mar 97 - 01:10 AM The "Dem Bones" thread turned up a whole song I didn't know, but now I'm wondering why I expected it to be the chorus of a different song. The one that first disconnects the bones and then connects them again.
Toe bone [dis]connected from the foot bone.
Then, back, in the opposite order only this time the
Head bone connected to the neck bone. What I'm missing is the chorus, or frame or whatever it is that surrounds all this anatomy.

Subject: RE: disconnected bones? From: Les Blank blank@wt.net Date: 23 Mar 97 - 11:30 AM There are two choruses in the version I used to do in my classes. After the bones are disconnected, the chorus is: Dem Bones, Dem bones, Dem dry bones (repeat twice) Now hear de word of de Lord. After the bones are reconnected: Dem bones, dem bones, gonna walk around (repeat twice) Now sing de "work" of de Lord. My kids really got into it. Les |
Subject: RE: disconnected bones? From: Bobby O'Brien Date: 23 Mar 97 - 03:26 PM Does anyone remember the episode of the classic television sitcom "The Munsters" where Herman (Fred Gwynne) made a recording of this little song, and it became a hit?? Hehe, of course, Herman's lyrics were slightly different, considering he was "assembled". Love those old fun parodies. |
Subject: RE: disconnected bones? From: Nathan Sarvis (nsarvis@tenet.edu) Date: 23 Mar 97 - 10:27 PM Perhaps there are those who don't realize that this song is a retelling of the vision of dry bones recounted in the book of Ezekiel, Chapter 37. ". . .the bones came together, bone to his bone. .." (vs. 7) |
