I am sprawled out on one of those chaize thingies (sp?). There is a softly spoken waiter who brings me cool things to drink as I allow myself to become mesmerized by the sound of the lapping waves against the shore. The sun is gentle and it feels rich and creamy like the color of buttercups against my skin. The air is soft, and mellow, and it blows gently over me carrying the smell of salt water. I get up and walk along the beach, feeling the grit of the sand massage the bottoms of my feet. Seagulls are swooping down to drop shelled things on rocks to break them open. I can hear their calls. I walk in the shallows of the water, and feel the push and pull of the waves against my feet and legs. I can feel the tang of the salt water against my skin. The sound of the waves, the seagulls, and the gentle breeze massage the insides of my ears. My skin is caressed by the warmth of the sun and the breeze. The salt air fills my nose and lungs as I breath deeply and fill my soul with the spirit of the ocean and the shore. I'm in heaven. |
