Subject: RE: BS: Accountability -Yes we did - Yes we can! From: fat B****rd Date: 04 Jan 09 - 03:47 PM I only managed to re-gain 6 lbs over the holidays! (:( BUT I went out into the garden to-day to fill several poly bags with leaves for mulch. Ha! Frozen weren't they. Did a load of raking and tidying, not to be outdone. Ann is back at the Salsacise and recipes class on Wednesday so it's "Get thee behind me, calories" Sounds like I want a fat arse, don't it!. I'll be back to a bit of brisk walking as well. The gyms here have blasting music and televisions so I may do some weight training stuff at home. I WILL be back to 15st10 soon and then it's all systems go to get into my optimistic jeans. Am I the only male here? Keep it up everybody Aiming for leaner B****rd |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability -Yes we did - Yes we can! From: GUEST,pattyClink Date: 04 Jan 09 - 02:19 PM My goals, before they get any more numerous. 1 - get some more weight off, shooting for 30 pounds by this time next year; and help the big guy come down in weight too 2 - get organized and de-cluttered enough to get to at least some of my 'someday' projects 3 - do at least a few desperately needed home maintenance/improvement projects |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability -Yes we did - Yes we can! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 04 Jan 09 - 02:05 AM This week I have switched to a few days of the Scarsdale Diet. I didn't explain much earlier, but it is a simple plan with toasted whole wheat bread and fresh fruit for breakfast, a simple lunch (lunch meat, veggies or fruit) and a simple dinner (usually meat, veggie, bread). The book has variations for vegetarians, etc. Yesterday I took the dogs for a nice long walk. Today I spent a fair amount of time climbing in and out of the beams in my attic. It was kind of like Yoga--moving carefully through a precarious place, holding positions while I worked, moving back out again. Several repetitions. :) |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability -Yes we did - Yes we can! From: Hawker Date: 03 Jan 09 - 07:54 PM Well... Yes I did lose over 2 stone last year ;0), yes I did put most of it back on too :0( Yes I am going to lose it again... and more!!!!! I have targets set and it all begins on Monday with the weigh in! Will keep you posted! The wii sports says I have the fitness of a 67 year old.......considering it was the first time I had used it and I am 47 I wasnt too disheartened! Cheers all, go for it! Lucy |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability -Yes we did - Yes we can! From: katlaughing Date: 03 Jan 09 - 06:38 PM Good for you for going to that, LtS! I haven't done much of anything today. It's strange. I can *feel* my body wanting to be worked and I mean to, but it passes and I don't. I think partly because they have spooked me about being careful because of certain diagnoses. I think going to a PT will help with that. So, I'll stick to the qi gong and see what happens after that. My feet DO feel much better!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability -Yes we did - Yes we can! From: Liz the Squeak Date: 03 Jan 09 - 06:23 PM Had a really long walk today... around London, during a Demo against the bombing of Gaza in Trafalgar Square today. Been years since I was on a political rally of any kind. It was a lovely day for walking, if the reason was not so lovely. Never got round to the housework so I suspect that's tomorrow's task. LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability -Yes we did - Yes we can! From: Liz the Squeak Date: 03 Jan 09 - 04:59 AM So far this year, on my journey to work I have walked to and from the station every day. I'd be proud of that but I've only been at work for one day! It's vacuuming this morning, and by the smell of it we had a visiting cat last night so that's the carpet cleaner coming out as well.... Ho hum... that should do for a couple of ounces... which would be fantastic as my scales here tell me I'm very close to that elusive 'under 15 stones' mark.... be still, my beating heart! LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability -Yes we did - Yes we can! From: LilyFestre Date: 02 Jan 09 - 07:47 PM Happy Hour Yoga for me today, 60 minutes. This class is usually a very relaxing, end of the week, take care of your body kind of class...not today. Noooo...not today. We got our asses kicked today! Lots of hip openers and thigh builders (and man you should see my thighs..WOO HOO!....now if I could only get my abs and arms so toned! Namaste! Michelle |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability -Yes we did - Yes we can! From: katlaughing Date: 02 Jan 09 - 07:31 PM That's major, Maryanne! Congratulations. My Rog has been without smoking for almost a year now and his colour is much better. |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability -Yes we did - Yes we can! From: maire-aine Date: 02 Jan 09 - 06:36 PM Today's my second day without a cigarette. It's not exactly a resolution, but I suppose it's good for something. If I could lose 30 pounds this year, that would be great. I hope to start walking more, once it warms up. Maryanne |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability -Yes we did - Yes we can! From: katlaughing Date: 02 Jan 09 - 04:39 PM Good for you, Susan! Slow starting here. Did get some walking done today. Forgot to weigh myself in first thing; with clothes on and fresh food and water on board, I went up another pound. I will wait and weigh in tomorrow morning to see how accurate that is. |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability -Yes we did - Yes we can! From: wysiwyg Date: 01 Jan 09 - 01:08 PM Not much in new goals-- the old ones are fine, and I don't trust the NY Res phenomenon. But I will note that I have, for some time now, been officially looking for ways to fund getting rid of some skin. The "new" thing is that I am cleared to run a big-ass snowblower, so we went and got a good one yesterday. I ahve taken charge of its deployment and have advised Hardi that we will not go look for his ab bench toimorrw and plow today-- we will make the long drive to go look today, in chilly sunlight. We'll plow tomorrow when it will be a few degrees warmer. And I just found the great hat my son apparently left here, which I need to wear when we clear snow. !~!~! I'm cleared now to drive, too, so it's back to daylight pool time. ~S~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability -Yes we did - Yes we can! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 01 Jan 09 - 12:38 PM This last week has had a fair number of sugary foods and candy around the house. I've given away or frozen most of it now, and I find the easiest way to go cold turkey from that easy sugar addiction is to go a few days on the Scarsdale Diet. The diet itself doesn't work really well for me, but a few days on it helps to kick the sugar cravings out of my brain. Breakfast this morning was a toasted slice of whole wheat bread (baked last night before bed, so it was beautifully fresh!), apple slices, and a pot of Yorkshire Gold tea (Micca got us hooked on that, he sent some as Moonglow's Secret Santa a few years back). This is the first day I have birds at the kitchen garden feeder (I put it up earlier in the week) and today I will get some exercise on behalf of birds--I'm going to dig a hole, mix some concrete, and put up my martin house. Subject: RE: BS: Accountability -Yes we did - Yes we can! From: Rapparee Date: 01 Jan 09 - 10:47 AM To continue helping others reach their highest potential in whatever way I can contribute. To be less wasteful of time, money, health and other things in short supply. Two small goals...that should be enough for now. |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability -Yes we did - Yes we can! From: LilyFestre Date: 01 Jan 09 - 08:08 AM My goals are 1. To enjoy the journey as I intend to pass this way only once 2. To focus on small goals 3. To stop & think about what my body needs instead of wants 4. To join a new exercise class this month (Lookout Butts and Guts! Here I come!!!) 5. To improve my health as much as possible so I can be a strong, fit, energized Mommy. Michelle |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability -Yes we did - Yes we can! From: SPB-Cooperator Date: 01 Jan 09 - 05:56 AM Choosing 3 from 12 To change my bath taps for a shower mixer tap and retile the kitchen floor. To cook something new each month. To keep my home accounts on a spreadsheet to the same level I do for my clients. Im off to make a carrot and banana cake for the new year (doesn't count as new as I've made it before). Happy new year. |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability -Yes we did - Yes we can! From: mouldy Date: 01 Jan 09 - 04:20 AM I'm going to get my very expensive bike out of the garage and actually RIDE it...when it warms up a little bit! First weigh-in of the year on Monday night, so we will see what the seasonal excesses have done. I think visualising the shape we want is a good idea. I want to be down a clothes size by this time next year. Properly down a size - not just shoe horning myself into stuff. There's a small but determined garden that needs a good overhauling, so no excuses! Andrea |
Subject: RE: BS: Accountability -Yes we did - Yes we can! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 01 Jan 09 - 02:43 AM I'm headed to bed after a few more chores and after several trips to the attic. No way to quantify the exercise (minimal), but the result will be noteworthy around here--solid Internet connectivity. I managed to fish a line through the wall (no mean feat!) for the wiring to my son's computer. I am happy to say that nothing collapsed beneath me and I was able to climb (several times) over the ducts that run through the attic trussed space, so I suppose there was some agility training (of sorts!) this evening. Have a good New Year, and let's hope that we all can visualise the shape we want to be in, and can simply default to the diet and lifestyle that will take us there before the next 12 months is out. Subject: BS: Accountability -Yes we can - Yes we did! From: katlaughing Date: 01 Jan 09 - 12:21 AM As Maggie said in the new de-clutter thread, we've done this for almost a year and it seems like an anniversary. We've all survived 2008 with all of the turbulent times it brought and the Hope we have all pinned our own stars to coming up with the new year and new leadership. We've learned to be kind to ourselves, that we each have different abilities and we can support one another in beautiful friendship. I am really proud of us all and i hope you are, too. With that in mind, please feel free to post your goals here for the new month of January in the NEW YEAR! Goals - qi gong every other day free weights = ditto walking - ditto not all on the same days:-) |
