Subject: RE: BS: Thoughts for Big Mick From: gnu Date: 31 Dec 13 - 12:24 PM Rap... Amos will "... go off his feed and before you know it he'll be playing a b***o." He can't play a bongo. Delicate hands you see. Mick... ask fer extra meds. |
Subject: RE: BS: Thoughts for Big Mick From: Severn Date: 31 Dec 13 - 11:37 AM Yes, but with your own room, your friends and relatives can stop by for a bit of a jam session while the night nurse smiles on from a booth outside. Or maybe I was just lucky...... I've spent both Christmas and New Years as well as a birthday in between in one of those places, and I can say that I've spent worse times outside the horse-spittle on each of those days in my lifetime........ Hang in there the best you can and know that you have a hellova lotta friends and support out there. |

Subject: RE: BS: Thoughts for Big Mick From: Rapparee Date: 31 Dec 13 - 10:10 AM Mick -- please stop fooling around with the nurses and GET THE HELL OUT OF THE HOSPITAL!!! Now you've got Amos all worried and he'll pace the floor and strum that thing he strums and go off his feed and before you know it he'll be playing a b***o. |

Subject: RE: BS: Thoughts for Big Mick From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 30 Dec 13 - 10:03 PM "Sometimes, being in a ward is better. Not near as good as yer own bed but ..." Well, best to have a bed to yourself in hospital, gnu, but on the whole I'd prefer that bed being in a room with other people. You can meet such interesting ones, and they open up in ways they otherwise don't. For example, one time there was a bloke well on in his nineties who had been a well respected football professional back in the day. His memory was fading and he was pretty confused at times, but when it came to flirting with the nurses he was right back on the ball... I reckon it'd be great being on a ward with Big Mick. With or without a guitar. |
Subject: RE: BS: Thoughts for Big Mick From: gnu Date: 30 Dec 13 - 08:35 PM Thanks Dan. |

Well, not all of us patiently in private but I have tended to be come much more calm these days. However, under the circumstances, I am close. Mick, buddy, you are in my heart today. Good luck. |

Subject: RE: BS: Thoughts for Big Mick From: gnu Date: 29 Dec 13 - 08:48 PM Indeed! As soon as Guinness heard about Mick, they upped production in order to cover all the slaintes to him. Silly question! |
Subject: RE: BS: Thoughts for Big Mick From: Rapparee Date: 29 Dec 13 - 08:39 PM Suddenly there has been a lot more Guinness available and Big Mick's in the horsespittle. Could there be a connection? |
Subject: RE: BS: Thoughts for Big Mick From: gnu Date: 29 Dec 13 - 08:07 PM I was in a ward a few years back. 4 guys. One guy in bad shape and two of us checked on him a lot. When it got bad, I counted 22 medical staff in the room at one time. It was tense! Poor bugger... just a young guy of near 50. Very sad. One old guy was spaced out on happies but fun to talk to when I could get him to tell me stories. The guy in bad shape and the happy old lad didn't mind my snoring but the poor man directly across from me was hard put. I explained my sleep apnea and he was cool with it. Sometimes, being in a ward is better. Not near as good as yer own bed but schenacadaie (spg? any Celts?). Slainte big guy... I am pullin fer ya. Good luck. |
Subject: RE: BS: Thoughts for Big Mick From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 29 Dec 13 - 06:51 PM Only just saw this, which was as well, because the news is better, and the Big Fella has spoken. Christmas in hospital is a drag, as I know from three years back, and worst for the family. But I reckon Mick's being there will be quite good for the other people who have to be in there at this time, especially the nurses. And the cleaners - they always seemed a good lot in my experience. Having the guitar in there is good company, especially if they've stuck you in a single room, which can be a lot less interesting than a shared ward. Be back soon, but take your time. |

Subject: RE: BS: Thoughts for Big Mick From: Rapparee Date: 29 Dec 13 - 12:55 PM Mick, don't listen to her. Listen to the doctors. Listen to the nurses -- especially the nurses. Record what they say and use it to blackmail them later. Who says a hospital stay needs to be expensive? |
Subject: RE: BS: Thoughts for Big Mick From: SINSULL Date: 29 Dec 13 - 12:13 PM Too bad you couldn't see all obstacles in your way. You've gone and upended the bed pan. One day at a time, Mick. For once, do as you are told and get well. SINS |

On a side note, someone not long at Mudcat voiced a negative opinion about Spaw's post. Please allow me to assure all and sundry that anyone who knows Spaw knows Spaw and appreciates the post, most of all, at this point, Big Mick. Yer lucky Spaw toned it down from his usual 'demeanour'... he's gettin old and mellowing thereby. >;-) |
