RB just doesn't get the American humours of sense.

I did not get the allusion to band name thing which is quite surprising as I was addicted to the whole Motown thing in the early 70s when I was a tender 12 to 14 year of age.

I did assume, albeit erroneously it was something untoward but I was not really upset by it. I was just goofing. It's that sarcasm thing we Yanks do so well. We think sarcasm is funny but really it is passive aggressive. I will try to rein it in in future.

Is it a full moon?

p.s. I noticed Dilli wasn't on the list too, but was in a hurry this morning before work to post my little play... err play my little post... you know what I mean.

We all friends again?

LOL!!!! It was VT that said "walks away shaking head" in a previous thread/post, that involved you and I Mr RB!! I find it amusing that you have said the same (nearly) and that VT has blown a fuse this time. This site is just the same as Text messages - the English is correct (in the main) and common to all - it's just the translation that sometimes gets confused and then causes some sparks.

By the way, talking of sparks Hoff - your list is missing an important person - Dilligaf!!! I won't tell her that you missed her off the list (well, maybe I will), but I'm sure someone else will!!!!

Beer sounds good, it all sounds good.

Carrie - You MUST turn up on said day, as I want to plead with you to join Bishop Gundulf's Morris as a fully accomplished and able and capable Fiddle player!!!!!! Please!!!! You DID say during the summer that would think about it!!!!

Hoff - PM me for details re last comment, if you have not guessed already!!!

OK - off to start sorting out the dance programme for BGM for 2009.

Bye for now.................

Slightly merry Kev!!!!!

I got the and her Tams referrence straight off. Sorry Tam. Weren't they an American band, and didn't they sing "Have You Seen Her?" Or was that Archie Bell and The Drells?

Was wondering earlier this afternoon how much Mumblin' L would be allowed to drink. Beer might be off limits for him too. Apparently lots of things happen post heart attack invcluding raised sugar levels.Only 2 more weeks to go before he's allowed to drive again.

Yes, that was the pub before it burnt down, and Hogarth did indeed spend a very debauched weekend there back in 1600 and frozen to death. The new building is the age I stated above.

If you are into Hogarth, while you are here it may be worth visiting the Hogarth Arms on the Isle of Grain a few miles down the road (overshoot, landfall is Zeebrugge) and the church there too.

Virginia and her Tams

I beg your pardon

Just what the h*** is that supposed to mean. My name is Tam (short for Tamara rhymes with camera) and I am from Virginia in case some of you are still confused.

BTW I can only drink cider and in that short a time (only 2 for me) and as Chris is driving he will only be on the shandy.

Still trying to figure out what her Tams means.... mumble mumble... some sort of euphemism... grumble.....

Peter the landlord has just shown me the beer list - I ahve asked him to go away and get details of teh "seasonal special" (which I expect will be the Sheps winter warmer or Xmas Ale) and teh "microbrewery special ale" which MIGHT be something form the Nelson Brewery.

Now our attendance list (of beer drinkers) might be

Me
Melodeonboy
Growler
Carrie (if you think the film was scary, watch her drink)
Maybe her oppo Clive
Little Legs (aka Wee Jock)
Essex Girl
Kev the Clogs
The Barden of England (on shandy)
Brian Rodgers
Mumblin Len (if fit) and Girl Friday and maybe a Leopard Cub.
Graham "plunk" Anstee
Sue and Tony Urwin
Virginia and her Tams
Possibly MGAS and Richard Atkins
Woodsie
Naughty 40 (and that is only her bra size)
Romany Man
Dipsodeb and Pat (wonderful harp player)
Dead Horse (shame he sings) and maybe Mrs Dead Horse
Folksinger 54 (if we are lucky)
PTH
Fisheye and George

Allow a quarter for no-shows, that makes 21 folking drinkers at 3 pints each makes 63 pints of real ale = nearly 8 gallons = a small barrel, not just a box.

Shall I tell Peter the landlord that - as planned consumption - or more, or less? And given the above do we have a view as to the preferred nature of the brew or what?

Reenactors use horns for quaffing ale and mead from, not for sticking to their heads.

If the reenactors don't do it then the real thing didn't either.

Having said that did you know that duct tape is considered period, by many Scadians?

I'm a viking

let's go kill a Norman
let's go kill a Norman
biff bam boom
biff bam boom

And again as a round.

I once had a bumper sticker on my guitar case.

Vikings disembarking from longboats to raid a village. In the text balloon over the leaders head

Right men, this time pillage and rape first! Then burn!

Now going to learn the Sun is Also a Warrior.

Does one require a licence for such a contraption?

I like porter... if Canterbury Jack is like Tanner's Jack.. great stuff. Got lots of thanks at Rochester for reccomending it to folkies looking for a good pint.... ok kept to subject.... now the news bulletin.
Latest on recovering heart patient. I have just scoured the internet for, and printed the leaflet that he imagined he'd brought home from the hospital. He's busy reading it. He's eating less rubbish and more fruit. Sleeping a bit during the day, but going to bed earlier and getting up by 8 am. He musn't go outside in wet and windy weather, so today he's a couch potato refining his aimlessly mooching about indoors skills. Before I saw the dos and dont's I got him to unscrew a jar of pasta sauce. He mustn't do that. He's watching Coronation Street, we haven't watched soaps for about 3 years. Half an hour of Corrie later and he's looking for something else to do. Time for tea.
