Subject: RE: BS: Olddude heart attack From: Rapparee Date: 08 Jul 14 - 09:53 PM Hearts, not jello, cause heart attacks. If Dan would replace his heart with jello all would be fine. You never heard of a jello attack. |

I guess there is a chance this may pass when I fully heal but a small one. All nuts actually. Chest hurts like nuts on the cut but heart is strong and I am all over walking and fishing |

Subject: RE: BS: Olddude heart attack From: ChanteyLass Date: 07 Jul 14 - 09:17 PM Dan, sorry about the diabetes. I am also Type 2. I imagine that you'll be getting all sorts of advice and reading lots of info. Do your best, but just remember that diabetes hasn't read any of the "rules" for handling diabetes. I can do everything right and get a bad glucose test result. I can do everything wrong and get a good one. Just keep doing the best you can. |

Subject: RE: BS: Olddude heart attack From: gnu Date: 06 Jul 14 - 07:09 AM Sorry to hear about the setback, Dan. Hope it's temporary. Quote from the first site I read... "Although the mainstay treatments of type 2 diabetes include pharmacologic therapy and lifestyle modifications, having adequate glycemic control is difficult to achieve in most obese type 2 diabetic patients, with about 52% of American diabetics actually achieving an A1C goal of 7.0%. Previous studies have shown that procedures like bariatric surgery have produced type 2 diabetes remission in morbidly obese patients. Other studies have also verified the benefits of surgical procedures on type 2 diabetics. However, a majority of the published literature that supports bariatric surgery and diabetes remission have only short and medium term follow-up. Currently there are very few long term follow-up studies, showing remission rates greater than 5 years. The purpose of this study was to study the long-term remission rates following bariatric surgery." |
Subject: RE: BS: Olddude heart attack From: GUEST,Lizzie Cornish 1 Date: 06 Jul 14 - 06:49 AM Sending love, Dan....and the diabetes thing, be sure to also take good care of your feet, rub cream/lotion into them night and day, as our feet don't sweat, so we don't get that moisture thing kicking in, so the skin can get very dry. (((XXX))) Oh..and apparently, having a stomach sleeve op can actually cure diabetes, so they're starting to discover, but I'd not put yourself through that too! ;0) |

Subject: RE: BS: Olddude heart attack From: gnu Date: 05 Jul 14 - 06:44 AM Why, thank you for the commendation, B, which I rightfully deserve for a few hours each and every good day I put in. Right back atchya but all day every day. Yer one a the good ones. Right. Back to the task at hand. It's half past six! Drop yer pricks! Hands off yer cocks and on with yer socks! The rest of that cadence gets worse so I'll stop there and just say, "Mornin, Dan." Perhaps I should add that I was never in uniform. Came from a rather military family and actually was accepted by RMC but a strange thing happened just before my picture was to appear in the newspaper as one of three chosen in The Maritimes when I was 18. I said, "Dad. I don't wanna go to Royal Military College." He whipped the car to the curb and parked. "Why not?!" "Four years in a school with only guys? NO pussy?" He cocked his head, nodded and drove on. I was so relieved that standing up to him regardless of the fear had paid off. Mind you, I had my hand on the door handle the whole time. |

Subject: RE: BS: Olddude heart attack From: gnu Date: 26 Jun 14 - 06:09 AM Mornin, Dan. Rap... kinda like my old man's recipe for roasted duck except he used chunks of 2X4s to roast the duck on. A deal of a hearty meal with lots of fibre and you could use left over 2X4 for toothpicks. |
Subject: RE: BS: Olddude heart attack From: Rapparee Date: 25 Jun 14 - 09:42 PM First you clean it, then filet it. I'd probably dredge the filets in seasoned flour -- a nice stone-ground wheat, although barley or oat might make a nice change, with Hungarian paprika, sea or kosher salt, freshly ground pepper, and perhaps a bit of ground dried lemon zest. A hot skillet with a tad of olive oil in it, toss in the hamburgers and throw the fish away. |

Subject: RE: BS: Olddude heart attack From: GUEST,olddude Date: 24 Jun 14 - 11:10 PM My dear friends, thank you so ... I am pretty tough and doing very well so far ... I mostly get tired because of all the meds I have to take. I suspect several more will go away as I heal. Others I will take forever I guess but we all have something right. Not being able to lift over 10 lbs kinda stinks. While I was home alone earlier I took off down to the lake just for an hour or so. Next thing, I catch a very large bass. Nice fight but ouch cause I had to haul him up over the breakwall ..That was a bit more of a battle then I was ready for. After I let him go I said to the fish, lets call it a draw LOL don't tell my Mrs. I catch hell Love you |
