Subject: RE: BS: Gettin' Urine Smell outta Carpet??? From: Donuel Date: 31 May 11 - 10:55 PM At pet smart stores they have the expensive plain lable enzyme and the cheaper enzyme product that has a foul oderant added. Get the expensive one. You can add it to the wash cycle too. You put it where the bleach would go. |

We didn't buy a place just two door up from our house because there was cat pee in the carpet, pad, wall studs, sill plate.... |

Subject: RE: BS: Gettin' Urine Smell outta Carpet??? From: wysiwyg Date: 31 May 11 - 10:14 PM Nononono... first you get the magic enzyme thingie. It EATS the organic odor-ingredients. It's exactly the same stuff as you'd put in the RV's waste tank, MINUS the nasty deodorizing smell those products have. Carpet cleaning pros use it all the time. I think they put it right into the rug shampoo nowadays. Or it can be a separate step. (I'm outta that biz a LONG time.) THEN after that all dries you use the Febreze if a smell lingers. That said, it will never come out if it's down in the pad. For that you gotta peel up the rug, send it out to be cleaned with enzymes, and put down a new pad, and, if it's wall to wall, restretch just like a new install. But when you peel it up.... that is also when you see how widely the stuff had spread on the carpet's underside, and sometimes you'll see that the backing is rotted as well. Cuz that stuff is hard on burlap. An' it sits and sets..... this is why landlords do not allow pets. Major expense to undo peepee and poopoo. ~Former househiold cleaning service mgr/estimator |

Subject: RE: BS: Gettin' Urine Smell outta Carpet??? From: Rapparee Date: 31 May 11 - 09:56 PM Try Febreze for Pets...if that doesn't work there are a bunch of other "pet odor" removers out there. OR! Replace the carpet! |
