From: Little Hawk Date: 22 Mar 07 - 11:44 AM I still wish you'd been there at the receiving end of the famous Paul Anka tirade in the early 70s, Rapaire. Subject: RE: BS: Which Mudcatter in your foxhole? From: Rapparee Date: 22 Mar 07 - 09:21 AM No, Ebbie. I'll put up with an awful lot before I lose my temper. A broken cookie in a package, a careless driver, a loud boor -- these don't upset me much. Unless they happen twice. Then I...I...a black curtain descends in my mind and everything goes blood red and.... I don't do anything except perhaps leave. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. |
Subject: RE: BS: Which Mudcatter in your foxhole? From: jacqui.c Date: 22 Mar 07 - 07:30 AM Doug - Kendall does won a gun and is a crack shot. The added advantage is that he is funny. However, he does have to pee a lot so you would have to take that into consideration! :0) |

Subject: RE: BS: Which Mudcatter in your foxhole? From: Ebbie Date: 22 Mar 07 - 12:33 AM oooo Rapaire- you don't have a quick temper, do you? :) Somehow this subject reminds me of an activity I kept up for many years. (Not sure that I'm finished yet) I would tell myself stories - sometimes I wrote them - about various traumatic or dangerous or otherwise problematic fictional events and then see how it worked out. (Those of you who create scenarios are aware of how characters will take the bit and run, if you allow them) I had a few ground rules. For instance, I allowed myself to have some of my favorite people there, either from my own real-time life or people that I admired, but that meant that the obverse was true: I also had to insert some people who I really did not want to have to deal with. Anyway, I would set them adrift, or at a plane crash or shipwreck and sit back and "see" what happened. So, Rap- you aren't short tempered, right? |

Subject: RE: BS: Which Mudcatter in your foxhole? From: Rapparee Date: 21 Mar 07 - 08:37 PM So did I, Doug. Also M-14, M-1 carbine, M-16A1, M-79, M-60, and the M-1911A1 pistol. And I familiarized on the LAW, 3.5" rocket launcher, .50 machine gun, M-1919A6 .30 machine gun, various mines, and the 81 mm mortar, that I remember. There were probably more. And I had training in explosives and demolitions and taught both bayonet and hand-to-hand combat. For a librarian I'm a trained killer. 8-) |

Subject: RE: BS: Which Mudcatter in your foxhole? From: Rapparee Date: 21 Mar 07 - 07:39 AM Two guys found a large, dead animal and being good citizens decided to bury it. They dug and dug, as it was QUITE a large animal. Various people passed by, but the preacher stopped. "What are you doing?" he asked. "We're fixin' to bury that animal there," replied on of the two. "Only, we don't know what sorta critter it is." "Well," said the preacher, "according to the Bible, that's an ass." The two guys thanked him for identifying the corpse and he moved on. Finally, a little boy came along and stopped to watch. After some time, he asked, "Are you guys digging a foxhole?" "Well," one replied, "that ain't what the preacher called it." That picture just reminded me of that story. Don't have any idea why.... |

Subject: RE: BS: Which Mudcatter in your foxhole? From: skipy Date: 20 Mar 07 - 07:47 PM My choice, me, of all the poeple that I love & those that I just like, followed by those that I dislike & those that I hate, a foxhole is not a place to invite any of them, so I'd rather be there alone, if I let myself down there will be no witnesses. If I let them down there will be no recriniations. Two tests that I have had to take (due to work) both placed me as a Chairman / sniper, one of the guys setting the test was delighted! he had never had someone who fell into that catagory before, the other one was very, very worried & predicted a mental breakdown, a couple of months later he was proved right, I fell apart like a house of cards! Subject: RE: BS: Which Mudcatter in your foxhole? From: Ebbie Date: 20 Mar 07 - 12:57 PM I think it's a silly hypothesis. But who I would choose would depend very much on how long I had to be there. In the short term I'd enlist people like Kendall and Rapaire and even Claymore. (I would definitely NOT choose The Terrible T- a desk warrior is not of great use.) For the long haul I would in addition choose other people, people who would entertain me, make me think, help me put my dilemma into perspective. Some of those would be women, some would not. |
Subject: RE: BS: Which Mudcatter in your foxhole? From: Stilly River Sage Date: 20 Mar 07 - 12:45 PM I can see why Rapaire with his weaponry is a popular choice.
