perhaps it was misconstrued as Crackpot instead of crockpot?

Sure! Try using chunks of a good white fish, such as cod, and using a base of creamed corn, potatoes, torn up fresh spinach, and milk or cream. Season as you see fit.

Nice try at revisionist history there Mudcat regulars. Your only problem with the usual lame defense of the Mudcat status quo is that most of us are capable of reading all on our own.

The thread was started thusly, by Mudcat regular troller and flamer extraordinaire, harpgirl:

Subject: BS: Recipes for the Crockpot: Iron Ore Stew
From: harpgirl
Date: 30 Dec 03 - 01:47 PM

As promised (and especially for our Michievious Minnesota Miscreant), for those cold winter times:

ED NOTE: which was a continuation of her trolling in the Forums/Discussion Groups thread, to wit:

Oh yeah, whatever sweety. I think I'll go have lunch. I'm having Iron Ore Stew. I'll post the recipe for you later, sweety...love, harp
True, I'm only humble occasionally....

She sure didn't waste any time baiting that hook after her lunch, did she?

I'd love to be able to use my crockpot, but since my husband has eliminated first meat and now chicken (no dairy or eggs, either) from his diet, that leaves fish and vegetables.

I don't suppose that by some miracle it is actually possible to construct a good fish stew, for instance, using a crockpot?

MEATBALLS BAVARIAN

Make meat balls, small ones, from lean ground beef and veal or pork. Put them in a crockpot and cover with beer (cheap beer will do) and tomato ketchup (or catsup, either one). Heat on high for a couple of hours, skim any grease, and cook on low or medium until your guests arrive or you can't stand waiting any longer. Serve from the crockpot (with toothpicks) as an hors d'oevure or ladle it over rice or noodles or grains.

Also good with tiny smoky links.

apparently it became a forum for a continuation of the disgruntled GUESTs discussion...yawn. The person who started it was accused of doing so to piss someone off, becaue she'd mentioned making Iron Ore stew in another thread.

I suggest we start it again:

I posted my yummy Braised Lamb Shanks recipe!

here it is again, with   some afterthought   additions:

BRAISED LAMB SHANKS

Brown lamb shanks on all sides in a heavy pan with a tablespoon of oil. For savory flavor, use onions or garlic. Add diced onions to the oil and saute until translucent with the lamb, OR, insert slivers of garlic into slits in the lamb before browning.
When lamb is browned, add stock or water to cover. Add sliced carrots and potatoes. Season with thyme and/or rosemary, salt and pepper. Put in crockpot (or Dutch oven or heavy skillet on stovetop). Cover and simmer over low heat until vegetables are tender. Rice or barley may be added to extend or richen the stew.

Gawd, you are tiresome.

Raptor, the thread is still there. If you read it you will see that some lamebrains started using it as a sniping ground on completely different grounds than the topic. I assume that Jow Offer decided to put the fire out. His call.

Some people seem unable to differentiate between communication and self-dramatization.

So, then, Guest...why do you stick around in "Mudcat hell"? I'd leave, myself.

You apparently don't spend much time in Mudcat hell then, Raptor. It happens with great frequency below the BS line, where the dark lords of Mudcat rule the BS forum with their iron fists.

No one likely has any idea what the reasoning/justification was for closing the thread, because the rules of engagement are a deep, dark secret, known only to the clone priesthood. And their mothers, maybe.

I've never seen a thread closed before.
